Unity is a flexible and powerful development platform for creating multiplatform 3D and 2D games and interactive experiences. It was a whole-day workshop given on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Game Enthusiasts, Software Professionals, Students from every corners of Metro Manila, gathered at Microsoft HQ with the support Developers Connect Philippines in partnership with Microsoft PH. At exactly 9:30 am the Project Unity Code Camp got started.

Ms. Shumate Royo, Project Unity Team Leader, gave the opening remarks and an introduction about Philippines Developers Connect Communities and how to participate in it. Ms. Shumate introduced the Unity professionals and students to our Lead speaker, Mr. James Bernard Gabriel. He first talked about the Unity Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to the participants, the basics of making their very first Unity Project!

Mr. Joben Rara, Developer Evangelist at Microsoft PH, breaks the mind of the participants to the world of game developing and exciting opportunities in the software industry.

We also have a special visitor from UNICEF - Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Ms. Ninia Calaca, Project Consultant, invited interested parties to the D' Quest Games Hackathon 2015 by UNICEF - Open for all IT Students and software developers proficient in Unity 3D.

Our Speaker Mr. James Gabriel talked about the 2D orientation and a little more about 3D. They started off with a puzzle and eventually turned out to be an excitement as we go deeper into the world of Unity.

We doubled the FUN when the team got a sweet treat from Microsoft as we give out FREE access pass with an equivalent worth of 100 USD, that is good for a month duration to Mobile platform services using the Microsoft Azure.

You can see how happy they are while creating their own games and also having fun cooperating with their new friends.

After the workshop, participants were told to present a game that was made using Unity at the Mini-Hackathon. Out of 12 presenter, we picked out 3 outstanding game and won special gifts brought to us by our very own, Microsoft PH.
