Rules

1. This Rails Code Camp is for professional web application developers who are interested in learning more about Rails. Other professional developers are also welcome, as long as they familiarize themselves with the following topics:

  • Basic Web Concepts (HTML/CSS/JS, HTTP)
  • Object-Oriented Programming
  • Databases and SQL
  • Using the Command-line/Terminal (cmd/bash)

For best results, please skim through the various topics at http://guides.rubyonrails.org/ before going to the event. This way, you will have a general idea what Rails is about as well as formulate better questions to ask to the mentors.

2. This is a free community event; hence, the organizers will not provide certificates.

3. Dress Code Compliance for Valero Telepark Building: Business Casual attire must be observed.

The following are NOT allowed:

  •  Rubber sandals, slip-ons or slippers
  •  Shorts
  •  Revealing top/shirts

Participants / organizers / volunteers who will not comply may be denied of entry.

4. Participants are required to bring their own laptop to the event. Please also come to the Installation Meetup the night before so that we can help you install Ruby and Rails and prevent unnecessary delays in the workshop.

If you can't attend the Installation Meetup, please install Ruby, Rails, and Git beforehand by following the RailsBridge Installfest document. Verify that you've installed the correct version of Rails by running "rails -v". This should output "Rails 4.1.0".

No IDE is required for Rails, however it is recommended that you have a text editor that supports LF line-endings (i.e. not Notepad). We suggest downloading an evaluation version of Sublime Text.
