The 1st BIR Tax Innovation Challenge, co-organized by DEVCON together with The Bureau of Internal Revenue (Philippines), with the support from USAID/Philippines E-PESO and several sponsors.

Hack a Tax is an innovative model co-created by the government and the private sector to foster digital transformation in government services and transactions. The first Hack a Tax was launched in October 2019 and is being implemented as a joint project of the BIR and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Hack a Tax aims to provide simple, streamlined, and serviceable digital tax services especially for the micro and small enterprises that represent 90% of business taxpayers. With the mobile apps solutions developed through Hack a Tax, taxpayers will no longer have to visit the internal revenue office and fill out long, complex tax forms or line up at authorized agent banks for over-the-counter transactions. Among all the one-hundred seventy- three (173) participants, twenty semi-finalists went through an intensive series of boot camps with mentors, while twelve of them made it to the final judging. Apart from owning, operating, maintaining, and monetizing their apps, the Top Three winners of the competition also received cash prize.

DEVCON Kids is a volunteer organization of technology, teaching, and learning enthusiasts. We engage the youth in human-centered computer coding learning experiences, to prepare them for a future that is highly dependent on computers and critical thinking.

As part of the initiatives under the ARTA’s NEHEMIA-Logistics Sector, the Unified Logistics Pass (ULP) shall be implemented to improve the trucking and logistics industries with the use of emerging technology geared towards Streamlining and harmonization of the processes in securing trucking permits within the logistics governing bodies

The ULP aims to improve the trucking and logistics industries with the use of emerging technology. This will be both highly beneficial to the private stakeholders and to concerned government authorities alike as it is poised to streamline requirements for a unified Quick Response (QR) Code which shall facilitate easier movement and ease port-entry restrictions. The long-term goal of the ULP is to have this unified QR Code recognized in all ports, economic zones, and LGUs while simultaneously eliminating the burden of the truckers in securing multiple stickers or passes in different ports, eco-zones, and LGUs.
