DEVCON Code of Conduct for National and Chapter Officers and Volunteers


DEVCONNECT PHILIPPINES INC or DEVCON PHILIPPINES, a registered non-profit organization in the Philippines dedicated to empowering Filipino developers and future geeks, is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members of the tech community. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior of DEVCON national officers and DEVCON chapter officers who organize events and engage with the tech community ecosystem on behalf of DEVCON

Core Principles.

  • Respect: Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, experience, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other personal characteristic.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: We strive to create a community that reflects the diversity of the tech industry. We encourage participation from all individuals and actively combat discrimination and harassment in all its forms.
  • Professionalism: Conduct yourselves in a professional manner at all times, both online and offline. This includes avoiding profanity, insults, and other forms of disruptive behavior.
  • Transparency: Be transparent in your communication and decision-making processes.
  • Zero Tolerance: We have zero tolerance for corruption, bullying, and the creation of a toxic organizational culture.


Specific Expectations

  • Event Organization:
  • Ensure all events are inclusive and welcoming to all members of the tech community.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment at all events.
  • Have a clear and well-publicized Code of Conduct for all events.
  • Have a clear plan for addressing any reports of misconduct at events.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Be respectful and inclusive in all online and offline interactions.
  • Use your position to promote diversity and inclusion in the tech community.
  • Be mindful of your online presence and avoid posting anything that could be considered offensive or discriminatory.
  • Uphold the values of DEVCON in all your interactions with the tech community.
  • Financial Integrity:
  • Uphold the highest standards of financial responsibility and transparency.
  • Report any suspected financial misconduct to the national office and accounting team 
  • Bullying and Harassment:
  • Do not tolerate bullying or harassment of any kind, in person or online.
  • Create a community where everyone feels safe to report any incidents of bullying or harassment.
  • Take immediate action to address any reports of bullying or harassment.
  • Healthy Community Environment:
  • Promote a positive and collaborative environment within DEVCON leadership and chapters.
  • Avoid gossip, negativity, and other behaviors that can create a toxic culture.
  • Foster open communication and respect for diverse viewpoints.

DEVCON takes your privacy seriously. Unless specified in the event consent form, we will not directly share your personal information (like your full name and email address) with our partners and sponsors. Event Photography and Videography

  • Documentation teams may be on-site at DEVCON events to capture photographs and videos for promotional purposes. By attending a DEVCON event, you consent to your likeness being used in this material.



Safe Space and Event Risk

  • Safe and Respectful Environment: By attending a DEVCON offline event, you agree to help us maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone. We will not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or threats.
  • Safety and Responsibility: We do our best to ensure safety at our events. However, by attending, you agree to accept the inherent risks associated with any events.

  • Local Events: Local events are organized by individual DEVCON chapters. For guidelines and support, contact the local FB page of the DEVCON Chapter organizing the event.

Reporting Misconduct

If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to a member of the DEVCON leadership team. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated confidentially. You can also report anonymously through a designated reporting mechanism.


Anti-Bribery and Corruption

As representatives of DEVCON, you are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards, especially when engaging with national, local, and global development agencies, government bodies, local government units (LGUs), and other organizations. We have a zero-tolerance policy for bribery and corruption.


  • Gifts and Hospitality: Do not offer, give, solicit, or accept any form of bribe, kickback, or improper payment. All gifts, entertainment, or hospitality must be reasonable, proportionate, and not intended to improperly influence a business decision or gain an unfair advantage.


  • Conflicts of Interest: Avoid any situation where your personal interests could conflict with DEVCON's mission. If a potential conflict arises, disclose it immediately to the national office.


  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and transparent records of all transactions and engagements. Any financial dealings with external partners must be properly documented and approved.


  • Reporting: You have a duty to report any suspected or actual acts of bribery or corruption. Report any such incidents immediately and confidentially to the national office. Retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith will not be tolerated.


Consequences of Violation

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  • Warning
  • Preventive suspension during investigation
  • Removal from the leadership position
  • Ban from future DEVCON events and roles
